Breathe — Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 12, 2026

The short version: Breathe keeps your training on your device. It has no accounts, no servers of ours, and no network code, so nothing is sent to us or anyone else. If you turn on reminders, Breathe adds events to your own calendar. Step counting during walking holds happens on your device and the step count is not saved.

Who this covers

This policy applies to the Breathe breath-hold training app for iPhone, and its home screen widget, published by Methodical Enterprises LLC ("we," "us").

What we collect

Nothing. Breathe has no user accounts, no backend servers, and makes no network connections. We never receive your baselines, your session history, or any information about how you use the app.

What stays on your device

Your baseline test results (BOLT score, max breath hold and breath count), your session history (hold times, session length, and how each session felt), your difficulty levels and settings, and your chosen theme are stored only on your device. This information leaves your device only through features of iOS that you control, such as your own iCloud device backup.

The home screen widget

The widget shows today's session, its length, and your streak. To do that, the app saves a small summary in storage shared only between Breathe and its own widget on your device. It is not sent anywhere.

Motion & Fitness

During walking breath holds (Hypoxic Sprints), Breathe can ask permission to use your iPhone's pedometer so a hold can end when you reach the pace target. It counts steps only while a walking hold is running, and the step count is used live on screen and then discarded. It is not saved and never leaves your device. If you don't allow access, walking holds simply run on time. You can change this at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Motion & Fitness.

Calendar reminders (optional, off by default)

Breathe can put reminders on your calendar. These are off unless you turn them on, and iOS asks for calendar access the first time you do. Depending on which you turn on, Breathe adds:

Each event has a fixed title and note and an alert at its start time. They contain no test results or other training data. Breathe uses calendar access only to add, move, and remove its own events; it does not read or change your other events. The events go into your default calendar, so if that calendar syncs to a service such as iCloud or Google, they sync like any event you add yourself. Turning a reminder off removes its event. You can revoke access at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Calendars.

Notifications

Breathe does not send notifications. Reminder alerts come from the calendar events described above and are shown by iOS. There is no push server.

Voice guidance and background audio

Spoken prompts use Apple's built-in speech synthesis, which runs on your device. Breathe keeps its audio running in the background so tones and prompts continue with the screen off during a session. Nothing is recorded: Breathe does not use the microphone.

Health data

Breathe does not use Apple Health (HealthKit). It neither reads from nor writes to the Health app.

Analytics, tracking, and advertising

Breathe contains no analytics, no third-party SDKs, no advertising, and no tracking of any kind. We do not build a profile of you and do not track you across apps or websites. There are no purchases, subscriptions, or ads.

Not medical advice

Breathe is a training aid, not medical advice. Breath-hold training can cause fainting. Follow the safety rules in the app, and get medical clearance first if you are pregnant or have a heart, blood pressure, lung or seizure condition, or a history of fainting.

Children's privacy

Breathe does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Keeping and deleting your data

Because your data lives on your device, you are always in control. Reset all data in Breathe's settings deletes your baselines and history, and deleting the app removes all of its data from the device. Calendar events Breathe added stay in your calendar until you turn the reminders off or delete the events in Calendar. We hold nothing to delete, because we never had it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page and post the new version here.
